Aviation and Aerospace Imagery

Aviation and Aerospace imagery: Unlike other photographers, I always try to look at an item with an artistic eye. It is my Vision which allows me to take an item and transform it into something the engineers never thought about. In this image of a compressor blade, I tried to show that even though this is made from a block of metal, that due to it's shape and form it can be photographed in a way that renders it as a piece of art and not what it really is, a compressor blade.

To me, in this example, the blade looks like a sailboat. (I have a vivid imagination.) My ability to “see” differently allows for this change. By knowing where to put the camera, at what angle, what lens to use, how to light the blade all comes into play in this creative process that allows me to take an “Ordinary” item and show it in an extraordinary or an engaging way.

If through my efforts, I cause someone looking through a magazine, or a website or in a trade show, to stop & look at an image I have created for a client, I have accomplished my part in helping my customer “Brand” themselves.

We all live in a visual work. We see photos every day, at work, on the computer, on the cell phone, at home, in the car, in the train, in the taxi or on the bus.

My clients need to have something to cut through what I call, “The Visual Clutter”. Most photographs will never achieve this, iconic imagery will.

Shot with a Sinar Camera onto 4x5 transparency film, Rodenstock lens on a Cambo stand.
