Shot just at sunset with a Canon Professional Digital Camera & a Canon 16-35mm zoom lens set at 35mm f2.8 Zoom lens shot wide open, 100 ISO in RAW mode & processed in Photoshop. I was shooting with a 400mm but I wanted to get more "Expanse" so I grabbed another camera with the wide angle zoom lens on it & walked up close. You can't get too close to most range cattle because they will turn & run away. So while I'm walking in their direction I have to watch the cattle and as soon as they start to drop their heads I stop and shoot. These cattle are not as wild as some of the rangy critters I have shot before but they are not going to stand around while you pet them either. I find it healthy to shoot with one eye & look for trouble with the other and often stop & look in the other direction. With cows & most steers you will seldom have any problems, bulls however are another situation all together. All longhorn cattle have the speed, strength and equipment to do in almost any threat with ease. Bulls have all of the above but with 2 main differences, they have much more and they often have a temperament to match.
